      Today is the 30th anniversary of National Indigeno Today is the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, which is part of National Indigenous Peoples Month in Canada. Held on June 21st the day takes place on summer solstice, the longest day of the year, as it holds traditional significance across Indigenous cultures. The day recognizes and celebrates First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples’ rich and diverse cultures.       Members of the Irish Women's Network, along with f Members of the Irish Women's Network, along with friends from across the community, gathered at the June 5th coffee morning to recognise Consul General Cathy Geagan for her outstanding support of the Network, its initiatives and the wider Irish community. As a token of appreciation, Cathy was presented with a gift and honoured with a special performance by the Indigenous drumming group lexwst’í:lem, who shared three songs with attendees. ** Please note that there will be no coffee morning gatherings in July or August.       Vancouver School of Irish Music are delighted to w Vancouver School of Irish Music are delighted to welcome acclaimed Irish traditional musicians Aidan Connolly and Bryan O’Leary this July for an afternoon of workshops and an evening concert with Calum McIlroy at @roguefolkclub. On Saturday morning, July 4th, Aidan will lead an intermediate/advanced fiddle workshop, while Bryan will explore the rich musical traditions of County Kerry for all melody instruments.
