The Consulate General of Ireland, Vancouver book club returns on Wednesday, 21 January at 5:30pm to discuss Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.
Winner of the 2025 Sky Arts Awards for Literature, Intermezzo follows two brothers, Peter and Ivan Koubek, in the weeks after the death of their father. The brothers seem to have little in common; Peter is a successful lawyer in his 30s and Ivan is a 22 year-old socially awkward competitive chess player. For two grieving brothers and the people they love, this is a new interlude – a period of desire, despair, and possibility; a chance to find out how much one life might hold inside itself without breaking.
