The Pink GAAme BC Cancer Foundation Fundraiser

The Pink GAAme is a Gaelic games fundraiser, which will raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation in support of translational breast cancer research, where BC Cancer will develop more customized treatments, prevent breast cancer recurrence in high-risk patients and increase long-term survivorship.

Gaelic games are Ireland’s national sports and the large BC-based Irish community hold numerous Gaelic games matches across BC and Canada each year.

The Pink GAAme will involve members from all 8 Vancouver-based Gaelic games clubs. The games will see these members take part and compete in two Gaelic Football matches (one men’s and one ladies’) for the BC Cancer cause.

The game will feature custom-made jerseys by O’Neills Sportswear, donning the BCCF and Pink GAAme logos. These jerseys will be put on sale via O’Neills’ online store for purchase, with all proceeds being donated to the cause.

The games will take place on the grounds of Prince of Wales Secondary School, at 2250 Eddington Drive, between 12pm – 4pm, on Saturday, September 30th, 2023. An after-party will follow the event that evening in Donnellan’s Irish Pub on Granville Street, with music, a raffle and lots of guaranteed craic!

There is an opportunity for those not playing the games to get involved in the fundraising by doing a Shave or Dye. Those partaking in the event via the Shave or Dye are asked to either dye their hair or shave their head on September 30 in support of the cause and simply share the fundraising page for donations in their name.

The event is still looking for sponsors, so please get in touch if you, or your company would be interested in supporting the event. You can reach the event’s organizer at thepinkgaame@gmail.com or via their Instagram @thepinkgaame
